These mideast type cucumbers have a very thin skin, absolutely no bitterness, are mild, productive over a long season, one of the earliest to produce, and should go until a frost. In short, they are one of the best all-around cucumbers available. Pick them when they are about five or six inches long for best flavour and texture. They do well on a trellis but you can grow them on the ground also. Direct  seed three feet apart (3-5 seeds per hill, thin to three best plants) with rows five to six feet apart.

Pretty Wild Seeds are registered with the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (DEFRA) under number 7529, so you can have confidence in both our products and advice.

Sow: Indoors, February-May, 0.5cm (¼") deep, on edge, in small pots of compost. Water well and place in a warm position. A temperature of 20-25°C (68-77°F) is ideal. Keep moist. Seedlings usually appear in 7-14 days. When plants have developed 3 or 4 leaves, transplant to larger pots and grow on in cooler, but not cold conditions. Plant out, May-June, to large pots, growing bags, or into fertile, well-drained soil in the greenhouse border. Harvest: July-October.

Cucumbers do best in a humid atmosphere, so damp down greenhouse regularly. Once fruits form, regular feeding will ensure the best crops.

Provide support and train plants up canes, strings or netting. Stop lateral growth, once 4 sets of leaves have formed. A small number of male flowers (those with no swelling behind the petals) are formed. These should be left on plants until they fade, as they are the pollinators for the female flowers, which produce the fruits. Occasionally, fruits may develop a few small, white spines, which can be rubbed off.
