A dwarf evergreen form of Agapanthus with pale blue flowers in mid to late summer.  Plants have strap-like foliage and a long flowering season from July to September, later and with many more blooms than many other Agapanthus and useful in extending the flowering season.  There is some variety in flower colour for this form, with flowers mostly in pale blue, and also sometimes darker blue or nearly white.

This Agapanthus, a hardy evergreen perennial, grows 40-80cm in height when in flower with a spread of 40-60cm and is well suited to a smaller garden and to growing in pots.

Agapanthus prefers a well-drained soil in a sunny or partially shaded site, with plenty of water in the summer.  These are generally hardy in the UK (to about -10 degrees Celcius). The leaves may die back if frosted too hard but plants often survive and re-grow in spring.  Container plants can be brought into a greenhouse over winter.

Sowing; Sow in spring to autumn. Sow in a deep tray of seed compost, and cover lightly with compost or vermiculite.  Keep at 15-18°C and germination takes 4-6 weeks.  Keep the seedlings in the tray until the second season when they should be transferred into pots.   Plants generally flower in the third or fourth season.

Growing; The leaves are evergreen and remain on the plant in winter.  They may die down if heavily frosted, but better to protect plants from heavy frost.   Tidy up plants as needed.  Plants flower best if divided every four years – divide after flowering and plants from this species will flower in the season after dividing.
